Short Video, Great Advice: Think Different

Posted on: November 30th, 2009 by Lori Deschene - 8 Comments

I realize this video is a little old, but I never saw it before and I feel compelled to share it here.

So often in life we limit ourselves to the confines of what’s reasonable. People who change the world aren’t always reasonable.

They imagine possibilities other people wouldn’t think to consider. They let themselves dream, and then take action, fully convinced they can create that reality. They hope, and believe, and persevere, inspiring others to get outside their comfort zones, too.

It all starts with a simple thought.

I’m committed to being crazy, a rebel, a round peg in a square hole. Someone who sees things differently. Someone who changes things. Are you?

The Playing for Change Foundation produced this soulful rendition of “Stand by Me,” a medley with different street performers from all over the world. Absolutely beautiful.

“This song says no matter who you are,  no matter where you go in your life at some point you’re gonna need somebody to stand by you.”

14-Year Old Makes Video to Help Dad Get a Job

Fourteen-year old Ben Gullet made this short video to help his father Mark get a job. I found it on Exec Digital, accompanied by an interview with Mark.

I think one of the biggest benefits of a challenging economy is the opportunity to realign your focus. All too often we fold ourselves so deeply into the pursuit of greatness we forget what’s most valuable in our lives. Between early morning departures to beat traffic, working lunches, networking events, and overtime, family moments become few and far between—and sometimes, after working to exhaustion, relationships become peripheral.

No matter what you pursue today—no matter how many new connections you make, opportunities you seize, deals you close, or interviews you land—I invite you to remember someone somewhere is holding a sign to let you know they love you.
